Sunday Funday: Corn Husk Dolls

Sunday Funday
Corn Husk Dolls

Make a Traditional Doll with its Roots in Native American Culture

August 3, 2025 | 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM CST

The Neill-Cochran House Museum welcomes families and children of all ages to join this creative craft activity. Create a handmade doll using corn husks using a technique taught to early Americans by indigenous people.

Corn husk dolls originated in the Americas long before Europeans settled here. After arriving in America, colonial children also began making and playing with corn husk dolls. Eventually children all over the world were creating and playing with their own corn husk dolls.

All supplies will be provided, as well as staff, to help with instructions. Reservations are not required. Participation in Sunday Funday is free for kids 12 and under with an adult’s Museum admission ($8 seniors / $10 general), and NCHM members are always free. Drop in anytime between 11:00AM and 2:00PM to enjoy the activity. The Neill-Cochran House Museum is open for touring throughout the activity.
