Step back into the elegance of the 19th century and join us for a Victorian-themed afternoon tea at one of Austin’s most historic residences.
Guests will enjoy a delightful spread of flavored teas, finger sandwiches, and sweet confections served on tiered trays – the picture of old-fashioned refinement. So don your frilliest (or most dapper) outfit and your most elaborate hat and step back in time with us.
Presented in partnership with Austin English Tea Co., Victorian Afternoon Tea at the Neill-Cochran House Museum honors the tradition of tea at our site that dates back to Mrs. Neill’s Victorian tea parties of the 1880s. During the Afternoon Tea, hostess and England native Sarah Olano will present a brief talk on the history of afternoon tea with a look at the difference between high tea and afternoon tea and various Victorian tea customs.
Afternoon Tea will feature our NCHM branded teas. Find all of these delicious teas for sale online at the NCHM Gift Shop.
NOTE: Victorian-themed dress is encouraged but not required. What’s important is that everyone enjoy themselves!
