Andrea Cope (Storyteller)
Andrea Cope is a musician, artist, writer, and teacher. Following the death of her husband from a rare, aggressive cancer, she has focused her writing on an essay series about what it’s like to go on living after the person you love the most is told they’re going to die. Essays from the collection have been accepted for publication by Stray Words UK, The Cure, Clever Fox Literary Magazine and Paradox, a journal published by Harvard medical students, and others. She was invited to read two of her essays at an event jointly sponsored by Baylor College of Medicine, Rice University and Inprint Houston. Her storytelling has brought her wins at The Moth Story Slam and at the Grand Slam.
Kristen Drenning (Storyteller)
Kristen Drenning is an Austin transplant, having grown up in Los Angeles. She hopes you won't hold that against her. Aside from storytelling, she spends most of her free time improvising.
You can catch her Sundays in June at Game On! ATX or everywhere Improv is done!
Stephen Finkel (Storyteller)
Stephen Finkel loves people, music, stories, and anything fun! He moved to Austin three years ago with his family and is still trying to figure out why breakfast tacos aren’t available in every city and town in America. As the dad of two young daughters, he’s mastered the art of nodding confidently while having absolutely no idea what he’s doing.
Bill Frisbie (Storyteller)
Bill Frisbie is co-host of Drinking With The Saints (a monthly-storytelling salon) and was lead writer for InsideTexas.com (2002-16).
Bill has presented several times at Testify Austin and, recently, participated in The Storytellers Project (a national showcase sponsored by USA Today and the Austin American-Statesman), He has two daughters and lives in a haunted house.
Jeff Knight (Storyteller)
Jeff Knight is a longtime Austin writer/performer of poems, songs, and stories. He’s very happy to be back at Stories on the Lawn. Knight’s My Mother’s Piano is a story about family and music.
Susan Pickover (Storyteller)
Susan Pickover, a natural-born storyteller, got her official start while studying improv in New York City at the Upright Citizens Brigade. She sharpened her storytelling chops under the guidance of Margot Leitman, author of What’s Your Story? and Long Story Short. Susan’s style blends humor, heart, and the kind of honesty that makes you laugh, cringe, and maybe call your therapist. She has performed at various storytelling shows around New York and Austin.
When she’s not on stage, Susan is a freelance graphic and textile designer and the managing director of Condomania, a condom and sex toy company.
Mike Mournighan (Co-Producer)
Mike Mournighan is an Austin based improvisor, twitch streamer, and storyteller. He is also the newest co-producer of Stories on the Lawn! During his lifelong journey to become funnier, Mike tripped over storytelling and fell in love with the art's sincerity and deep human connection. Since that accident, he's won the Austin Story Slam, become a teacher, and begun coaching in the local scene. Mike manages www.storytellingaustin.com as a free aggregator for local events and he'd love to hear your story.
Susan Mack (Co-Producer)
A regular on the Austin storytelling performance scene, Susan Mack has more than 20 years experience with corporate and personal storytelling.
