A pomander, from French pomme d'ambre, i.e., apple of amber, is a ball made for perfumes. Traditionally a pomander was worn or carried in a case as a protection against pestilence or merely as deodorant.
More recently the word pomander has been used to describe a type of potpourri made from oranges studded with cloves, and it is this kind of pomander that we will be making together at Sunday Funday: Pomander. Make a sweet-smelling, take-home pomander that (if made properly) can last for years with a lovely scent that reminds us of the holidays!
The Neill-Cochran House Museum will provide all of the materials needed to make a take-home pomander. Staff and volunteers will be on hand to lead the activity. Drop by any time 11:00AM - 2:00PM to parttcipate.
The Neill-Cochran House Museum will be open for tours and kids can explore Austin history with one of our engaging seek-and-finds. Free parking is available behind the Museum.
