The Neill-Cochran House Museum is honored to present “Thoughts in Fiber: Work by Deborah A. Moore Harris.” Harris' artistry merges quilting, fabric design, and mixed media to provoke thought and evoke emotions, offering a unique perspective on social themes. Ms. Harris has a deep and abiding interest in history and in particular in elevating the stories of unsung heroes.

This exhibition brings together over twenty textiles that demonstrate the breadth of Harris’ skill as well as her deep commitment to environmental and social justice and to history. Many of the works on display highlight San Antonio history, her home for the past 30+ years. These include Hattie Ruth Elam Briscoe, the first and only Black lawyer in San Antonio for decades beginning in the 1920s; Dr. Robert M. Hilliard, who delivered 15,000-20,000 babies over the course of his long career; and We Are Marching, which commemorates the annual MLK march in San Antonio.

Together all in one room, Harris’ work celebrates the resilience of spirit and the important legacy we owe to those who came before us.

Free parking is available behind the Museum; accessible from W 23rd St.

“Thoughts in Fiber: Work by Deborah A. Moore Harris” will be on display at the Neill-Cochran House Museum Gallery from September 16, 2026 through January 17, 2027. The Museum is open Wednesdays through Sundays from 11:00 AM until 4:00 PM.
