This event is free and open to the public.

Austin Museum Day is a community event which offers free admission and includes special programs and activities at museums and cultural institutions across the city. This year's Museum Day at the NCHM features:

  • lawn games and family activities with Math Happens

  • Art on the Lawn local art market

  • live music by the Duck Creek String Band

  • Victorian-era and Civil War medic living historians

  • old-fashioned ice cream and fresh-squeezed lemonade making activity

  • iced tea, lemonade, and free admission to the Neill-Cochran House Museum

Make the NCHM a part of your Austin Museum Day, enjoy the outdoor activities, then come inside the Museum with free admission to see one of Austin's oldest residences. While inside, don't miss The Hope Suite by Mark Smith, on display in our gallery.

Math Happens will lead kids in a fun, math-based activity on the NCHM lawn! And the Bearded Baking Company will have a stand selling scrumptious cookies and sandwiches!

Local art, live music, living history, and sweet treats; what could be better!? Mark your calendar and come see us on September 18th!
