HABS Overview NCHM to use.jpg

So you want to learn more …

So you’ve finished the driving tour, but like us you want to know more! The African American History of West Austin is so diverse and plentiful that we realized one tour could never do it justice. We also had a lot more footage that we KNEW we would want to be able to share. Below you will find more videos about Clarksville and Wheatville, in addition to extended cuts of some videos. All the videos are numbered just as they were for the main tour page, and therefore correspond to the numbers from your driving tour map. Keep exploring and learning about this rich history.

 1. Caffeinated Call

This video was taken on February 29, 2020, during the Community Bus Tour. The video depicts Jennifer Cumberbatch as Coretta Scott King. The performance was inspired by Ginger Geyer’s work Caffeinated Call, which is part of the If These Walls Could Talk exhibition.
