Hand-colored engraving by Charles Clément Balvay in gold leaf frame. This engraving ,after the oil portrait by Antoine-François Callet, depicts King Louis XVI (1754-1792), in court regalia. The French monarch provided financial and politi-cal support for the American War of Independence. Gift of Mrs. Leonidas T. Barrow.
