Abner Cook Birthday Celebration and Award Ceremony
Every spring on the last Saturday in March, Friends gather at the Neill-Cochran House Museum to celebrate the life and accomplishments of Abner Cook. On that day, music and balloons float through the air, wine flows, and lemon-rosemary cake — well, disappears.
While the day is dedicated to Abner Cook, he isn’t the only person whose accomplishments are recognized. Friends also honor individuals or teams who have given their professional talents in support of the NCHM with the Abner Cook Award. All award recipients, we think, would win the approval of Abner Cook himself.  Here are past winners:
2006
Peter Flagg Maxson, architectural historian
2007
Kirk Hubbell, designer of NCHM computer game, Sterling’s Gift
2008
Sue Winton Moss, historian
2009
Candace Volz, historical interiors designer, & John Volz, architect, Volz & Associates
The Neill-Cochran House Museum is lucky to have outstanding volunteers and supporters who give many hours and much energy toward fulfilling the museum’s mission.  Their contributions make the task of selecting an award winner difficult. Who will win this year? Find out at the birthday event on Saturday. We’ll see you there!
